The Atelier3 project was led by Michele Zini and Claudia Zoboli (ZPZ Partners), with pedagogical consultancy by Carla Rinaldi and Vea Vecchi of Reggio Children.

The designers are involved in the most advanced research in this field, working with international research projects on environmental stimuli and children’s environments, including collaboration with Politecnico di Milano and Domus Academy.

Michele Zini led the acclaimed 'Children, Spaces, Relations' research project in 1998 with architect and designer Giulio Ceppi, drawing together experts in many diverse fields to examine environmental stimuli and their effect on child development and interactions, to define guidelines for the development of spaces for children.

'Children, Spaces, Relations' is published and distributed worldwide as a set of guidelines and a 'vocabulary of key words' for the development of children's spaces. It is cited by many organisations including the DfES/DCSF (UK) as a reference point for the development of new education settings for young children (e.g. March 09 ‘Every Building Matters’, CABE, DCSF).
