Atelier3 is the first line of furniture developed in collaboration with Reggio Children as an outcome of the Children, Spaces, Relations research project (1998). The Municipal Infant Toddler Centres and Preschools at Reggio Emilia are internationally regarded as one of the most advanced early childhood programmes in the world, and the pedagogical research and experience of Reggio Children informs the design project.
The furniture is intended to present many possibilities for creative learning environments, often typified by products that have multiple functions or which are open to multiple interpretations, and above all products that are not prescriptive, but instead value children’s competence and imagination, and create contexts for children’s enquiry and creativity.
The furniture line is manufactured by ISAFF, a leader in the field of school and playground furniture in Italy for fifty years, who worked exclusively with the design project to develop the Atelier3 line. The furniture is now distributed throughout Italy and internationally
